CHEM- CONNECT: Polarity
Polarity
          - refers to a separation of electric charge leading to a molecule or its chemical group having an electric dipole or multipole moment
          - this only works on covalent compound

Polar
      -  has unequal sharing of electron
      -  has a net dipole ( partial positive and partial negative charge )
      -  has the range of  0.1 to 1.6 difference in electronegativity
      - one common example is WATER ( H2O )

Here:
          > The partial positive is Hydrogen since Oxygen is more electronegative than Hydrogen
          > It forms a single bond  with 3 lone pair

Nonpolar
        - has an equal sharing of electrons
        - has a net dipole ( partial positive and partial negative charge )
        - has exactly 0 difference in electronegativity
        - the  examples are the hydro carbons such as Methane ( CH4 )

 Here
       >We all know that all Hydrocarbons are Nonpolar
       >It forms 4 single bond and 0 lone pair

CHEM- CONNECT: Chemical Bonding

CHEM- CONNECT: CHEM- CONNECT

Chemical bonding is the attraction between atoms that allows the formation of chemical substances that contain 2 or more atom.

I learned in this lesson that dangerous elements can be made useful such like the Sodium and Chlorine, these elements are dangerous but when they react they form a very useful substance such as salt.Table salt is an ionic compounds since it has a metal element Sodium and a non-metal element Chlorine.I also learned that chemical bonding is the responsible for the formation of a new chemical substance.

Ionic Bond
    - is formed through an electrostatic attraction between two oppositely charged ions
    - the transfer of electron from metal to non-metal
    - one common example is Table salt (NaCl)

Covalent Bond
- is formed through the sharing of electrons between atoms
- one common example of this is the Hydrogen gas
